"Nothing is easier for chic country style than a simple dress…"

ADDING LAYERS KEEPS SUMMER DRESSES PRACTICAL FOR NOW

Easter weekend for me is spent with family in the countryside or by the Welsh Coast - exactly the type of occasion where I reach for a lightweight midi dress. This Ralph Lauren number works especially well due to the tissue hem, which gives the dress a free, less perfect feel. But to tone it down, I teamed the spaghetti strap dress with a worn green t-shirt and lightweight beige jacket. I found these Chanel trainers in a second hand shop - a glam yet practical addition, and one that can be replaced with a pair of wellies if the weather decides to be typically English. Remember it’s always best to avoid being precious when it comes to dressing for the country; it can take the fun out of it.

THE WRAP DRESS IS EXPERIENCING A WELCOME COMEBACK

Morvarid Sahafi, founder of luxury clothing brand Morv London, needs an Easter outfit that is practical and free fitting in order to keep up with her one-year-old daughter Gigi. The simple yet feminine cut of this wrap dress is ultra flattering for all figures and the variation of tonal blues cleverly catches the eye in all the right places. Morv has opted for no shoes when it comes to running around on the lawn at Easter, however, this dress would work with a variety of options – to dress it up I would wear a wedge and to keep it casual I’d choose a pair of Supergas plimsolls.

TEAM UNEXPECTED SHOES WITH DRESSES

I love the way these patent platform boots bring a rougher edge to this feminine green-based midi dress. If you’re not really a super girly kind of person this is how to make a dress work for you; a tough pair of boots and a slightly dark lip personally makes me feel less prim! Mind you, on closer inspection, Chloe’s dress is anything but prim. The print is constructed of mug shots of key suffragettes and is inscribed with the slogan, ‘I can’t believe I’m still protesting this sh*t.’ Who said dresses couldn’t have attitude?

With just a touch of folkish embellishment, this tunic style dress will be one of the easiest pieces in your wardrobe to wear - whether it’s in the country or with gold jewellery and a suntan on holiday.

Rixo makes some of the best dresses out there; as this midi-dress proves. The clash of a cute daisy print with more out-there leopard keeps it looking modern.
